Theatre of the Oppressed Workshop - FREE!

Interested in learning theatre games to use in real life? Looking to expand your perspectives and find new ways to navigate conflict? Then this Theatre of the Oppressed workshop may be for you!

In the Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) the audience becomes active, such that as "spect-actors" they explore, show, analyze and transform the reality in which they are living. We will learn audience/spectator roles, replacing key oppressed characters. We will be guided in this workshop by Doug Paterson, former UNO Theatre Professor and a student/friend of TO creator Augusto Boal.

WORKSHOP LOGISTICS:

  • When: Saturday June 29th 1-6pm

  • Where: Bennett Martin Library 4th Floor Auditorium Space (use elevator to access 4th floor)

  • To bring: Water bottle

  • Snacks to be provided!

We know that 5 hours is a long time commitment, however shortening the workshop wouldn't leave enough time to discover some of the fundamentals of TO. If you are interested, but not able to commit to the full 5 hours, please note that below and perhaps we can make something work!
